The price list

Most shops will not put a number on a page. We have printed ours in the window since 1961, so here it is. These are flat rates, not "starting at" — the price is the price whether it is a Tuesday in November or 115° on a Sunday.

We come out, find the actual fault and tell you what it costs before touching anything. If you have us do the repair, this comes off the bill.

Seasonal tune-up

Coil cleaned, refrigerant charge verified, capacitor and contactor tested under load, amp draw on the compressor, drain flushed. Booked February through April this is a scheduled visit; booked in July it is a rescue.

Capacitor replacement

The single most common failure in this valley — the part cooks in the heat and the compressor will not start. Usually done in the same visit.

Condenser coil clean

Two seasons of Coachella dust and cottonwood in the coil is worth several degrees and a good share of your power bill.

One written number covering equipment, labour, permit and hauling the old unit away. We size it to your house, which sometimes means a smaller unit than the one you had.

After hours & Sundays

A night call costs more because somebody is getting out of bed. It is a flat ninety-five dollars on top, not time-and-a-half on everything.

Prices held through the 2026 season. If we quote you something that is not on this list, you get the number in writing before we start — that has been the rule since Hal Merrick opened the shop.

All of it is a normal service call — no trip charge and no "outside our area." Past Mecca or up toward Palm Desert, call and ask; we usually still come.
